Attendance Wednesday!
These sweet students arrived at school on time, ready to learn and have fun! Their names were picked at random and announced over the loudspeaker this morning before snack recess. (We apologize in advance if your student chose a noise maker toy!)

Mrs. Burker and Ms. Posl's 3rd grade classes have pen pals! The students have been communicating with students at Clear Springs Elementary School in Damascus, Maryland and they are very excited each time they receive letters back from their new friends.

Save the date for our December Edition of Lunch on the Lawn. TK/K/1st grade will eat lunch at noon and 2nd/3rd grade will eat at 12:30. Please bring any friends and family members to join your student for lunch. Poor weather conditions will cancel the event, so please keep your fingers crossed for nice lunch time weather!

Hello Families! This is a reminder that we will be having our parent advisory meetings this week. On Tuesday, we will meet at Mount Shasta Elementary at 6:00 in room 3. On Wednesday, we will meet at noon via Google meet at this link: https://meet.google.com/zpf-ugfr-gpe
On Wednesday at 6 PM, we will meet at Sisson in room J – 1. We hope you can make one of those meetings. Thank you!

We will be placing all of the items from Lost and Found at the end of the hallway near the pickup bench. Please stop by during morning drop off and/or afternoon pick up to reclaim your child's personal belongings. Any items that are left unclaimed during Winter Break, beginning December 25th, will be donated to a local charity organization.

Please join us this Saturday (weather permitting) for our school's Garden Day. This will be our last day to clean up the garden area for our students.

Our students did a wonderful job performing the Pledge of Allegiance this week!

Friday Bucket Filler Winners
Marcos and Wyatt are the winners this week! Marcos was caught showing kindness and Wyatt was a very good helper in class.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will not have a bus run this afternoon. Please reach out to the front office if this is a hardship for your family. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

MSUSD Families,

Sleep is critical to the success of our students. There are many benefits to obtaining the proper amount of sleep (for all family members) and many tips and techniques to help you achieve your proper amount of sleep needed.
Please send your child to school well rested and ensure they have had a healthy breakfast. We serve breakfast as early as 8am in the cafeteria for all students.

How cute is this duo?!
This week's SEL topic was Self-Care. Adalyn was surprised and happy to find Blue Moon hiding in her classroom this week. When she was asked to describe something about self-care, she replied, "It is good to be kind to your heart and do something that makes you feel good".
We could not agree more. Great job, Adalyn!

We had quite a fun week here at MSE! Thank you to all of our students who participated in the pledge of allegiance.

Principal for the Day!
Karen Topping from Megan's House and the Rescue Ranch Yreka visited our students this morning. She brought a few extra helpers with her today to teach our very excited students about finding forever homes for rescue dogs, teaching them about programs available for new adopters, Youth Training Teams, festivals and training camps.
Thank you Karen!

Bucket Filler Winner
Weston is the winner of our weekly Bucket Filler Award! Weston is such a sweet and kind friend and he won the award for showing responsibility and teamwork.
Great job Weston!

Dear MSE Families,
Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. Read more...
Attendance is one of the important factors that affect a child's ability to have success in school. During the month of November, the Siskiyou County Office of Education will be leading an Attendance Awareness Campaign. The campaign intends to provide schools and districts with information and strategies they can use to raise awareness and bring all aspects of our communities together to encourage positive attendance from all of our students. We will be using the Attendance Works campaign model and resources to conduct the Siskiyou County Attendance Awareness Campaign.
We will be using the theme, Showing Up Together!, emphasizing building trusting relationships to promote belonging and engagement. We encourage adults to investigate the factors that motivate showing up (Together!) as well as those that create barriers to attendance.
As always, please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions regarding your child and any type of illness concerns. (530) 926-3434.
